NON chemical reaction/chemistry sites to explore:
Investigating the Periodic Table
Today, while in the computer lab, you have a mission. We are going to investigate the periodic table and elements online. Below is a list of sites that will help you on the journey. I will be updating these as you explore, so you might want to refresh. Be able to tell me 3 things that you learned about Chemistry, the Periodic Table, or Elements at the end of your exploration. Next week, we will be back in the science lab.
Explore These First:
- Changing States of Water
- Properties of Materials
- Reversible and Irreversible Changes
- Melting Points
- Solids, Liquids, and Gases
- Keeping Warm
- Rocks, Minerals, and Soil
- States of Matter
Explore These Second:
- Funbrain Periodic Table Game – ONLY the game given, NOT the other links
- Chemical Element Game
- Element Lab
- Jefferson Lab Element Hangman
- Fossweb Junkyard Analysis and Periodic Table
- The Atom’s Family
- Chemistry for Life Kid’s Site
- Chem4Kids
- Chemistry for Kids
- Zoom Kitchen Chemistry
- Wart Games – Chemistry

This is a really cool photo of a tornado beginning!
Plate Tectonics Video 1
I tried to embed this video, but it wouldn’t do it for some reason.
Click here for a video about Plate Tectonics. The video has Bill Nye, though it is not a Bill Nye Science Guy show (he’s more serious in this video).
GoAnimate video on Earth
Create your own at GoAnimate4Schools. It’s free and fun!
Exploring Pebbles, Sand, and Silt
Let’s look at rocks. Visit these sites:
- Neighborhood Rocks
- Rockhound Kids
- Geology for Kids
Write down facts on your graphic organizer.
Vertebrates and Invertebrates
Last week we learned about vertebrates. What is a vertebrate?
A vertebrate is an animal that has a backbone.
So if there is a group of animals called vertebrates, then there is name for the group of animals that do NOT have backbones. These are called INVERTEBRATES.
Let’s investigate more about VERTEBRATES and INVERTEBRATES.
Here are some links that talk about animal classification…or how scientists group animals together.
